In 1911 Roald Amundsen planted the Norwegian flag at the South Pole. Now it’s time for you to plant yours.
Planting a flag in the wilderness is a symbol of achievement. For some, climbing Mount Everest is worth planting a flag, while for others just getting through a night in a tent in the back yard might be worth celebrating. With Hurtigruten’s new Explorer fleet, you will have the chance to plant your personal flag in some of the most exciting and remote areas in the world.

“Being a parent is the best adventure so far”
CECILIE SKOG &
ALEKSANDER GAMME
Cecilie Skog is the only woman in the world to have reached The North Pole, The South Pole and the summit of Mount Everest. She has also climbed the highest mountain on each continent, known as “The Seven Summits”. The Norwegian adventurer has years of mountain and glacier guiding experience, as well as degrees in nursing and “friluftsliv”, but her greatest passion in life is her love for exploring.
Her husband Aleksander Gamme is recognized as probably the most versatile expedition profile in Norway. He has led and completed a variety of expeditions. For instance, summited Everest and several other high mountains, cycled through Sahara, completed the worlds longest skitrek, and flown up in the air with Heliumballoons. He has also published several books and articles about his adventures.
Together with their kids, they are preparing to plant a flag in Arctic Canada, representing their passion for “friluftsliv”.

The new age
of exploration
The future of shipping will be silent and emission free. MS Roald Amundsen is the first of two hybrid ships Hurtigruten will add to its fleet over the next few years, cutting emissions by sailing with electrical propulsion.
